CASM
The Comprehensive Aquatic Systems Model (CASM) is a generalized and flexible mass-balance aquatic food web modeling platform that has been used to address theoretical and applied questions for a variety of freshwater and coastal aquatic ecosystems. The CASM is a series of coupled difference equations, with one equation for each of the state variables. The CASM simulates daily production dynamics of producer and consumer populations within the food web, and is also capable of simulating concentrations of water chemistry state variables including dissolved inorganic nitrogen and phosphorus, dissolved silica, dissolved oxygen, and dissolved and particulate organic matter.Dynamic Solutions staff has used CASM in several locations, including:
