Watershed/Hydrology
Dynamic Solutions LLC has assembled an outstanding
staff of hydrologists and environmental engineers
with extensive experience in watershed and hydrologic
studies and modeling. Dynamic Solutions personnel
have performed numerous hydrologic studies for
Federal and State Agencies including the US Army
Corps of Engineers, US Environmental Protection
Agency and various municipalities. We have developed
runoff hydrographs to drive the hydraulic models
for flood studies, to assess the adequacy of storm
drainage and sewer systems, to simulate watersheds
and to predict and plan for the effects of future
land use changes on flow, potential flooding,
sediment transport and water quality. Our staff
is proficient with the use of many watershed runoff
and hydrologic models including:
- HEC-1, HEC-HMS, GEO-HMS, UNET
- SWMM, HSPF, TR-20, ADICPR, PRECIP
- AGNPS, PSRM, HYMO, DAMBRK
Selected examples of our watershed and hydrologic
modeling projects include:
Watershed-Based Economic Benefits Analysis
Study, USEPA Office of Wastewater Management.
Dynamic Solutions evaluated hydrologic data from
5000 USGS gages and various large databases in
48 states for the period of 1961-1995 as part
of a rigorous hydrologic analysis for the EPA
OWM. The project involved linking and analyzing
many existing federal databases.Performed analysis
of rainfall events and urban hydrologic modeling
of First and Second Creek watersheds in Knoxville,
TN as part of investigation into causes of sanitary
sewer overflows. Evaluated existing HSPF models
and data inputs as part of project.
Dysart Woods Hydrologic Study. Performed
hydrologic study of Dysart Woods, a small area
of old growth forest located in Belmont County,
OH.
Memphis Urban Stormwater Runoff Study. Applied
HEC-HMS, as part of the Memphis Area Stormwater
Runoff Study completed by the Memphis District
USACE. Models were applied to three small tributaries
of the Wolf River and one tributary of Nonconnah
Creek. The purpose of this project was to evaluate
flood damage reduction measures such as detention
basins, channel modifications, and residential
flood proofing.
DOE Stormwater Study. Conducted an extensive
study of a large Department of Energy (DOE) storm
drainage system. Used SWMM and a GIS interface
program to determine which drainage elements would
flood during design storms. Dynamic Solutions
identified and prioritized proposed drainage system
improvements.
Urban Sanitary Sewer Overflow Study, Knoxville
Utilities Board. Dynamic Solutions performed
an analysis of rainfall events and urban hydrology
of First and Second Creek watersheds in Knoxville,
TN as part of an investigation into the causes
of periodic sanitary sewer overflows.
Third Creek Flood Mitigation Study, City of
Knoxville. Dynamic Solutions applied HEC-HMS
to develop hydrographs as part of a flood mitigation
study to identify at-risk floodplain areas along
Third Creek, a highly urbanized area of Knoxville,
TN.
